MHO wins building for a better future!

Metropolitan Home Ownership (MHO), part of the Metropolitan Housing Partnership, has won the Building for a Better future award at the Affordable Home Ownership awards, 2010 held in London on 9 September.The award ceremony was held in London and used a panel of industry experts, including Directors, Chief Executives, and Architects working in affordable housing, to determine the best affordable home ownership projects in the country.

MHO were nominated in four categories, and won the Building for a Better Future award for its role in the regeneration of Chalkhill, Wembley. In the award submission MHO featured work from across the remit of the Metropolitan Housing Partnership – from the physical regeneration of the built environment through to effective resident involvement, job creation and community building through facility and capacity building. The results of over fifteen years of work being a thriving mixed community with a strong sense of ownership, largely delivered without grant funding.

The three other categories MHO was nominated for were:

  • Sustainable Design 
  • Regional Award for Outstanding Achievement in London (in partnership with London and Quadrant
  • Regional Award for Outstanding Achievement in Central England and Wales

We’d like to thank all our partners and our residents for their part in this success, which really demonstrates how the Metropolitan Housing Partnership is improving life together.”

The Affordable Home Ownership Awards 2010 recognise that MHO and the Metropolitan Housing Partnership has addressed the needs and challenges faced by the local community, promoted diversity and social inclusion, performed against BAME targets, demonstrated successful economic development impact which is likely to last and contributed to the community’s confidence in being able to influence and change the local living and working environment.
