Metropolitan launches new service to make affordable house hunting easier for Londoners

28 March 2013

Metropolitan home ownership launch new service to help Londoners meet their perfect home for less.

Metropolitan’s award-winning home ownership team has launched Homematch, a new service for prospective affordable home buyers in London.

Homematch puts people looking to buy or rent an affordable home in London in contact with housing providers working across the capital and provides an easy way for searching and applying for a home.

The free to use website at is the first independent property marketing portal launch by a housing association.

The service specialises in low cost home ownership and ‘less than market rent’ homes for Londoners earning less than £66,000 for those looking for a one or two bedroom home, or £80,000 for those who require a home of three bedrooms or more.

Bernie Conroy, Home Ownership Director at Metropolitan said:

“We’re launching this service because we know that our partner organisations are looking for ways to make the customer journey into low cost home ownership and renting simpler and more joined up. We want our customers to complete just one application form so that they can receive tailored information about the homes that are right for them.”

Homematch also offers an enquiries line to help answer customers’ questions on all aspects of low cost home ownership, and a clear and easy to navigate application form which means that, when it comes to buying or renting, they are a step ahead of the crowd.

As Colin McLennon, Head of Home Ownership Service at Metropolitan, explains:

“By completing the Homematch application form, Metropolitan and our partner housing providers who use the service benefit from knowing more about our customers and more about demand in the intermediate housing market. This is good news for customers too because it helps us to better meet their needs and can help sales progress more quickly once the customer has found a home that they want to buy.”

As well as providing a website and enquiries and applications service for London, Homematch will organise new and resale home shows (with the first event being planned for June) and will be working with a range of partners to offer a complete one-stop shop for first-time buyers and other eligible customers.

All London homes developed by Metropolitan for Shared Ownership will be available to customers who apply to Homematch.
