New home show provides opportunity for Londoners struggling to buy their first home

5 June 2013

High demand for free tickets but availability is limited... act quickly! 11am to 4pm, Saturday 15th June, Hotel Russell London, WC1

Metropolitan will host London's first Homematch Property Show on June 15 at the Hotel Russell WC1, and is inviting first-time buyers and homeseekers to the free event showcasing new and affordable homes on offer for sale or rent.

The show, the inaugural event of the newly-launched Homematch service, was devised in response to the seemingly unstoppable rise in the capital's property prices.

According to new data from Rightmove, the average asking price for a London house has now crashed through the £500,000 barrier.  Property coming onto the market jumped by £16,000 - or 3.3 percent - in a month to a record £509,000, while private rents in the capital rose by 7.6 percent in the past year alone.

Colin McLennon, Head of Home Ownership Services at Metropolitan, explained the thinking behind the Homematch Home Show:

"Home buyers are seeking affordable options all over London. Over 1300 tickets have been downloaded already.  And in the first month that Homematch was launched (April 2013), we received over 14,000 unique visitors. This just gives a glimpse of the demand for affordable London living.  What Homematch is offering is an opportunity for hopeful buyers to take a step closer in meeting their home ownership aspirations."

Sponsorship for the event is kindly provided by Penningtons Solicitors LLP.  While exhibitors will include Newlon, A2Dominion, Notting Hill, De Havilland , Triathlon, East Thames, Gallions, Gateway, Genesis, Site Sales, Affinity Sutton, SRC and Hyde.

One of the star attractions will be a virtual tour of the 'Olympic' East Village Apartments in London's newest postcode, Stratford E20.

Over 1,300 free tickets have already been downloaded. To register and reserve your ticket, visit
