Thousands of priced out Londoners defied the elements on Saturday to find out more about their low cost home ownership and renting options at the 2014 Homematch Property Show held at London’s Hotel Russell.

The event, organised by the home ownership team at Metropolitan, one of the country’s leading housing associations, was organised to provide a venue for would-be home buyers to find out more about Shared Ownership and affordable renting options from a range of specialist housing providers, solicitors and independent financial advisors.

Qammar Hussain, Newlon Home Ownership who exhibited at the event to promote homes available across a number of north London developments said:

“There was a good flow of visitors and we did receive a good amount of genuine leads for current and future schemes.   I also felt the venue was the right size for the number of exhibitors and noted some people came specifically for the presentations. It was good to see plenty of Home Match staff around to assist so any questions/queries about the venue were answered quickly”

Homematch, a free service from Metropolitan, is designed to offer Londoners the opportunity to find out more about and apply for homes to own and rent affordably from a range of housing providers working in the capital. The service offers a property search website at, a customer advice line 0845 230 8099, and organises property shows aimed at helping match home seekers to homes that they might be eligible to buy or rent.

Bernie Conroy, Home Ownership Director at Metropolitan explains:

“As Shared Ownership and intermediate renting options become increasingly mainstream, we launched Homematch to provide information about what’s available and offer opportunities for home hunters and housing providers to meet. We’re delighted that so many people made it through the stormy weather to get to the show and take a step closer to getting a home of their own.”

One home seeker who attended the show said:

“I’ve been exploring my options for buying a home for a while now but 2014 is the year where I want to take that further and get a place. Events like this are really useful because you get to talk to experts and ask questions face to face, I now have a much clearer idea of my next steps and can’t wait to go and view.”

For those who weren’t able to attend the show, Homematch are planning events for later in the year, details will be posted onto where you can register free to use the service and receive future event information updates.

The Homematch Property Show 2014 was sponsored by Winckworth Sherwood and Penningtons Solicitors.
